Daniel "tackled" Benjamin today after "chasing" him aroound the house (with mom's help, of course!) Tis is a rare picture of Benjamin actually smiling at the camera.

This was the only picture I took today. I must have been too busy. Here Jonathan and Daniel are playing tag and chasing after Benjamin. Daniel seems to love it and we know Benjamin does by his screaming and laughing and asking for more.

Daniel sat up by himself for the first time today. At first he was so excited and proud of himself. He kept giggling and smiling at me. Then he fell backwards onto the floor once and after that he was fussy and seemed nervous when I sat him up again and let go. Hopefully he'll forget all about falling by tomorrow!

Poor Benjamin was so sick today with a fever. All he wanted to do was lie around- so I let him make a "fort" in the living room out of the travel yard. Too bad he wasn't feeling well

enough to actually play in it.

This was an exciting view for me this morning. Five and a half months after having Daniel and I'm finally back down to under 140 pounds. Less than 10 pounds to go until I meet my goal weight. As Benjamin would say, "Yay!"

**I don't like to talk about my weight. I understand a lot of people struggle with their weight and would love to weigh 140 pounds. I've always had it easy (fast metabolism I guess) until I had 2 babies within 18 months. I have had the hardest time losing the baby weight after Daniel, and so this is a minor accomplishment for me. I'm really just including this picture because I know 5 or 10 years from now I won't weigh anything close to 140 pounds after 4 or 5 kids and I'll look back at this and remember what it was like to be so skinny :)**

I love how Benjamin's diaper sticks out above the back of Benjamin's pants. He is looking more and more like a boy and less like a baby. His diaper is one of the last pieces of babyhood still sticking around, and I enjoy seeing that little reminder sticking up out of his big size 2T pants.

Today we celebrated Matthew's 6th birthday at Dave and Theresa's new house in Highland. Dereck was holding Daniel and getting him to make the cutest faces. Our boys really love being with their uncles.

Grammy, Pepere and Uncle Blake are visiting for Benjamin's second birthday tomorrow. Benjamin loves having so many people to play with and Daniel is happy to see everyone too!

Jonathan took this picture today of Benjamin and Daniel snuggling with me on the couch. Benjamin has been in such a cuddly mood the last couple weeks. I'm definitely enjoying every minute of it!

I had laid Daniel down on the air mattress that was still up in our living room when Benjamin climbed on and started bouncing softly. This made Daniel start giggling and smiling- which caused Benjamin to laugh and bounce some more. This is the first time we have seen Benjamin do anything specifically to make Daniel smile and laugh!

13 January 2009

Today was the first day I tried having Daniel sit up all by himself while supported by the Boppy pillow. He did a great job! I had blown up our air mattress to make sure the leak was fixed and Benjamin played on it all day jumping from the couch to the mattress. Daniel would just watch him and laugh and laugh every time Benjamin jumped off the couch.

Daniel is 5 months old today. We can't believe how fast time is going by. He is such a happy boy and we love the joy he brings to our lives.

Benjamin got a pair of cowboy boots from his Uncles for Christmas. Today he wore them while playing basketball in the living room. He is getting really good at basketball! This shot I took right before the ball dropped in nicely.

Jonathan was being silly today when I told him to smile while we were visiting with his parents in Layton this evening. Benjamin laughed when he saw this picture. Nice new shoes Jonathan :)

Daniel is such a happy baby. He is almost always smiling. He is getting really good at rolling over and at times prefers to be on his belly instead of his back.

Benjamin was taking a bath while I was doing my hair this morning. I thought it was so cute that he lined up all his ducks on the side of the tub and they were all facing toward me instead of himself. At least one of us has all their ducks in a row!

It has snowed almost continually since yesterday afternoon. As I was walking out to the parking lot to take this picture this morning a tree dumped a whole load of snow off its branches directly onto my head as I passed under it. And of course I wasn't wearing a hood. Lovely.

I created labels for these new boxes that I picked up at Target today for Benjamin's toys. It is so nice to have a way to organize all his many little toys. And I'm loving the new rule: "one box out at a time." Benjamin enjoyed taking down the boxes and then putting them back.

Benjamin and I delivered his birthday invitations today to the families who live near us. Every time someone answered the door and I told Benjamin to give them their invitation he would throw it on the ground at their feet. This is a picture of him after we got home and his cheeks were all rosy and his nose runny from the cold.

Daniel was laying on the floor watching me at the computer while Benjamin was enjoying a video (Toy Story). When I turned to look at him after a couple minutes I found that he had rolled over and was watching the video with his brother.

Benjamin really enjoys reading books. Especially when he can sit inside something fun- like his crawl tunnel! He sat here for a long time today and read almost every book on his shelf.

I love that Daniel has his dad's blue eyes. They are beautiful! I even like how they look green when he wears certain colors.
